HIGH SPEED DIESEL ENGINES

The S.E.M.T. Pielstick PA4 V 200 VG (bore 200 mm - stroke 210 mm) has a power output of 1 765 kW (UIC) for the 12 cylinders and 2 640 kW (UIC) for the 16 cylinders, both at 1 500 rpm.

The PA4 V 200 engine features a high power/weight ratio making this Diesel engine a very compact and light weight efficient solution for high power mainline locomotives with reduced axle load, including BB classes, as demonstrated by the PA4 wide engine references.

Another feature, the variable geometry combustion chamber, results in a particularly low NOx emission level.

Thanks to the use of a pre-combustion chamber with variable geometry (VG) together with a special injection system, the NOx emission level is at least divided by two compared to the level of a conventional engine equipped with a direct injection system.
